
Mizar Fuentes Ortega
Mizar fitness journey started at 7 years old when he discover gymnastics. He quickly realized this was something he wanted to pursue, both as an athlete and as a coach.
Seeking to understand more about how the body moves, Mizar studied engineering with a specialization in biomedical engineering. During his studies, he expanded his fitness journey by playing soccer, rock climbing, CrossFit, and practicing martial arts (JKD and BJJ).
Throughout his junior and college career he attained multiple honors:
- Gymnastics Athlete of the Year 1998 and 2000.
- Crossfit Sanction events (Canada east)
- 28th in 2018, 24th in 2014, 46th in 2013, 19th in 2012, 38th in 2011, 39th in 2010, 15th in 2009
- 4th place (Adult - 69KG) - Canada National PRO Jui-Jitsu Championship 2019
- 1st place (Master – Feather) - Montreal International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championships 2016
With the mentorship of James FitzGerald (Founder of OPEX Fitness), he qualified for the CrossFit Regionals multiple years in a row and completed the OPEX CCP program. He founded OPEX Montréal in 2013 where he continues to develop his mind, body, and spirit and looks to share his passion and knowledge with his clients.
Mizar became a coach to work with people that want to learn how to move to their highest potential (Life, Functional strength, weight loss, gain muscle, BJJ, Gymnastics, Weight lifting).
Why? Because he enjoys having a positive impact on people’s lives and he knows that everyone has the potential to be a stronger, healthier version of themselves and express their true potential.
